You’ve seen the TV show Full House. I think if you’re reading this blog then you’ve seen it. I remember back when Full House came on TGIFridays, which everyone watched. Anyone else remember that? If you haven’t seen Full House, maybe you’ve seen the reboot Fuller House on Netflix? If you have seen either, then you will recognize these houses from the intro credits where the family lived. If not, maybe you are just planning a trip to San Francisco & are interested in a fun place to scope out classic San Francisco architecture. Alamo Square is your spot! These are privately owned homes so you can’t go up to them, but they all surround a great park called Alamo Square. These gorgeous homes are known as the Painted Ladies. They are an excellent example of some of the original Victorian architecture that somehow managed to be left untouched as the rest of the city progressed forward. Stick around for sunset & if you happen to have a fog free evening, they light up in the sun.

Aside from the iconic row of houses, the rest of the buildings on the square are pretty cute too!

Another fun screen mention for Alamo Square is that it was heavily featured in the 1978 version of the Invasion of the Body Snatchers & it was in the 5 Year Engagement with Jason Segal, Emily Blunt, & Christ Pratt.

Just around the corner is the Mill, a bakery that practically has a cult following. It serves up exclusively Four Barrel Coffee & Josie Baker Bread. You don’t get a much better taste for San Francisco than that! Take a moment to pop in to rest from hiking the San Francisco hills for a coffee & toast. They also have some gorgeous locally made pottery for sale.
